We run a number of educational courses at Rock and River designed to educate, stimulate and motivate you. Our courses are not only designed to enable the students to achieve their overall aim - gaining their qualification; but fundamentally they are designed to inspire and build on an individual's self confidence, communication and character, which helps give them a real sense of achievement on completion. We have worked with a large number of schools and colleges over a number of years helping their students to gain qualifications relating to the outdoor industry. All of our staff are fully qualified and experienced and hold all the relevant national governing body awards. We run courses in the following areas:

All courses include student workpacks. We are also able to provide photographic and video evidence showing all course criteria. All specialist equipment will be provided and all courses are run by fully qualified, experienced staff. Rock and River is a fully registered AALA Centre (Adventurous Activities Licensing Authority) and a Lancashire County Council Registered Centre.

On Site Climbing and Abseiling Tower

Our outdoor climbing and abseiling tower is 13m (42ft) tall. Our tower offers routes for both novice and more experienced climbers. There are numerous routes to choose from ranging in difficulty.

On site lake

At Rock and River we have a purpose-built lake on site which is ideal for all kayaking, canoeing and raft building sessions. Our lake is the perfect flat-water environment to enable you to learn and consolidate your paddling skills.

180 acre Orienteering Course

Our course is set out across the acres of fields that surround our centre.

On site I.T. Room with 15 workstations

At Rock and River we have a dedicated I.T Room on site housing 15 computer workstations. The I.T. room is conveniently located near to our activities enabling you to complete all the theoretical parts of your course in comfort and with ease.
