THE ULTIMATE BALANCING ACT!

 An individual challenge, Balance Beam comprises two parallel beams fixed across two vertical poles. One beam is approximately 4m (13ft) off the floor whilst the other beam is a more daring 10m (33ft). Your challenge is to climb up to the first beam and then using co-ordination and balance walk across this beam to the other side. Do you have what it takes to go to the next level? If so, climb even higher to the second beam and once again, balancing delicately walk across to the other side. Once you've reached the other side you're almost done, but not quite. Your instructor will ask you to make a final walk back to the middle of the pole and then ask you to lean backwards in order to be lowered safely down to the ground! A personal challenge that requires nerves of steel!

Open canoes are designed for two people. This makes them great fun, ideal for less confident groups or those wanting to practice their teamwork. The session will include an introduction to your canoe and a safety talk, followed by instruction and activities and games to enable you to get the most out of your paddling experience. All participants must wear a buoyancy aid throughout the session; these will be fitted and checked by our qualified and experienced staff. Please bring footwear for the water and a change of clothing.

A TEST OF BALANCE, CO-ORDINATION AND NERVE!

Another exciting team event designed for up to four people. Crate Stack is a test of balance and co-ordination. You are attached to a wire suspended above via a rope and work either alone or in pairs (maximum of four people). Your objective is to stack as many milk crates underneath you as you possibly can and to build your tower as high as possible! If working in pairs you must put the ultimate trust in your partner, balancing yourselves delicately and positioning the crates with care underneath you. 

FANTASTIC TREKS IN BEAUTIFUL LOCATIONS!

A series of single or multiple day treks set within beautiful locations including the Lake District, Yorkshire and Wales. We tailor-make your trek taking into account your level of fitness, experience and what you would like to achieve.

Your session will begin with a land-based introduction to your kayak and a safety talk. Your instructor will take the group through basic paddling skills helping individuals progress throughout the session. A variety of games and activities provide plenty of entertainment and help the group to gain confidence on the water. All participants must wear a buoyancy aid throughout the session; these will be fitted and checked by our qualified and experienced staff. Please bring footwear for the water and a change of clothing. We also have a number of sit-on-kayaks available which can be used on their own for a session or in conjucntion with regular kayaks.

Come and test your map reading skills on Rock and River’s 180 acre Orienteering Course. Our course is set out across the acres of fields that surround our centre. A superb team building activity for all ages; popular with schools and corporate groups alike. Use your map to find markers and gather information placed around the farm. The more markers you find the more points you score! Depending on the groups’ ability your instructor will provide as much or as little help as is needed to help them get the most out of their session.

HOW GOOD IS YOUR AIM?

Rifle Shooting is another great activity that you can take part in, either just for fun, or we can add a competitive element to your session. Your instructor will start by giving you the safety briefing before explaining how to use our 177 Air Rifles. You will then take it in turns to learn how to use your rifle and perfect your aim. Can you hit the target? Score as many points as you can with the ammunition provided and find out who is the best ‘sharp shooter’!

INDIVIDUAL CHALLENGE REQUIRING DETERMINATION AND BALANCE!

Climb your way up to a wire 13m (42ft) above the ground. Now, ease your way out grabbing the vines that are ‘hanging down’, and slowly or quickly, it's up to you, make your way across the wire! The distance between the vines increases the further you go, making the challenge progressively harder!
