Activities

Canoeing at Rock & RiverAt Rock and River you can choose from over 15 different activity sessions to customise your very own special Outdoor Activity Day. All of these activities are situated here on our 180 acre site. We have activities for all age groups and abilities. We are able to design your visit however you like. So if you and your group want to come along and just have some fun then Rock and River can accommodate this. If however, you want your day to have a team-building or competitive element to it, then we would love to arrange this for you too.

You can choose from either land-based activities or water-based activities. Each activity has a different type and degree of challenge. We adopt a ‘challenge by choice’ approach at Rock and River and we will never force you to do anything you don’t want to do. What we do ask, is that you at least have a go at stepping outside of your ‘comfort zone’ whilst you are with us. Our instructors, who are fully qualified and very experienced, will do their best to make you feel as comfortable as possible and will always encourage you positively.

We also run activities within our Woodland Learning sessions that are designed to stimulate curiosity and imagination, inspire creativity, and educate you, as well as increase your awareness of the natural environment.

We believe that engaging in outdoor activities benefits you in so many ways. Take a look below at just some of the benefits a visit to Rock and River could provide! So if you would like to reap some of the following rewards contact us on 01704 822622 or e-mail us at bookings@rockandriver.co.uk

On-Site Activities

  • Canoeing

Open canoes are designed for two people. This makes them great fun, ideal for less confident groups or those wanting to practice their teamwork. The session will include an introduction to your canoe and a safety talk, followed by instruction and activities and games to enable you to get the most out of your paddling experience. All participants must wear a buoyancy aid throughout the session; these will be fitted and checked by our qualified and experienced staff. Please bring footwear for the water and a change of clothing.

  • Rock & River Climbing Tower

At Rock and River you have a choice of climbing options. Choose from sessions on the brand new Rock and River Outdoor Climbing Tower or our Indoor Climbing Room. At 13m (42ft) high our climbing and abseiling tower has it all. Our Indoor Climbing Room is a dedicated climbing room with masses of routes and bouldering problems available. It is perfect for those wanting an introduction to climbing and offers plenty for the more experienced climber.

  • Another exciting team event designed for up to four people. Crate Stack is a test of balance and co-ordination. You are attached to a wire suspended above via a rope and work either alone or in pairs (maximum of four people). Your objective is to stack as many milk crates underneath you as you possibly can and to build your tower as high as possible! If working in pairs you must put the ultimate trust in your partner, balancing yourselves delicately and positioning the crates with care underneath you.

  • High Ropes - Jacobs Ladder

Our High Ropes course has seven exciting elements (All Aboard, Jacobs Ladder, Crate Stack, Balance Beam, The Vines, Leap of Faith, Zip Line) all designed to offer the ultimate in excitement and personal challenge. Some of the elements are designed for more than one person, requiring you to work effectively with your partner to accomplish your goal; others are designed to challenge you as an individual (with a little encouragement from your colleagues on the floor of course).
