Activities

Canoeing at Rock & RiverAt Rock and River you can choose from over 15 different activity sessions to customise your very own special Outdoor Activity Day. All of these activities are situated here on our 180 acre site. We have activities for all age groups and abilities. We are able to design your visit however you like. So if you and your group want to come along and just have some fun then Rock and River can accommodate this. If however, you want your day to have a team-building or competitive element to it, then we would love to arrange this for you too.

You can choose from either land-based activities or water-based activities. Each activity has a different type and degree of challenge. We adopt a ‘challenge by choice’ approach at Rock and River and we will never force you to do anything you don’t want to do. What we do ask, is that you at least have a go at stepping outside of your ‘comfort zone’ whilst you are with us. Our instructors, who are fully qualified and very experienced, will do their best to make you feel as comfortable as possible and will always encourage you positively.

We also run activities within our Woodland Learning sessions that are designed to stimulate curiosity and imagination, inspire creativity, and educate you, as well as increase your awareness of the natural environment.

We believe that engaging in outdoor activities benefits you in so many ways. Take a look below at just some of the benefits a visit to Rock and River could provide! So if you would like to reap some of the following rewards contact us on 01704 822622 or e-mail us at bookings@rockandriver.co.uk

On-Site Activities

  • Orienteering

Come and test your map reading skills on Rock and River’s 180 acre Orienteering Course. Our course is set out across the acres of fields that surround our centre. A superb team building activity for all ages; popular with schools and corporate groups alike. Use your map to find markers and gather information placed around the farm. The more markers you find the more points you score! Depending on the groups’ ability your instructor will provide as much or as little help as is needed to help them get the most out of their session.

  • Raft Building

Improvised raft building is one of our most popular activities. Working with your team members you must design and build your raft from the materials provided. After a brief MOT by your instructor, if lake-worthy, your raft is launched and raced against other rafts within your group. This activity is suitable for all ages and is equally suitable for any group, whether it's a fun day or a more in depth team building event.

  • rifle shooting

Rifle Shooting is another great activity that you can take part in, either just for fun, or we can add a competitive element to your session. Your instructor will start by giving you the safety briefing before explaining how to use our 177 Air Rifles. You will then take it in turns to learn how to use your rifle and perfect your aim. Can you hit the target? Score as many points as you can with the ammunition provided and find out who is the best ‘sharp shooter’!

  • A precarious balancing act! First you help your instructor set up the ropes over the water. Next you are attached to the safety line. Now you have to edge your way across the water – with a potential dipping along the way! Please bring footwear for the water and a change of clothing.
